Echo Point, Munnar

Echo Point is a short lakeside stop on the scenic road to Top Station. Most visitors pause here between Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake.

Echo Point lies about 15 km from Munnar on the Munnar–Top Station road, between Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake. It is a stretch of lake shore enclosed by hills, and a shout from the embankment comes back clearly off the slopes opposite - the effect that gives the place its name. Beyond the echo, it is a pleasant stop for a short walk along the water, views over the valley and photographs of the lake with tea and forest on the hills behind.

Travel sites report boating on the water, with charges separate from entry. Kerala Tourism notes that the surroundings take on a violet tint during Neelakurinji flowering years. Echo Point is usually visited as part of a drive or DTPC Tea Valley tour that also covers Mattupetty, Kundala and Top Station, so 30–45 minutes is typical. The site becomes crowded on weekends and holidays, when the echo is harder to hear.
