The Achyutaraya Temple, also called the Tiruvengalanatha temple, is a Vishnu temple complex dated to 1534 CE, named for the Vijayanagara ruler Achyuta Deva Raya. A search-result extract from Wikipedia's Hampi article places it about one kilometre east of the Virupaksha Temple, with part of its sacred centre close to the Tungabhadra. It was laid out with an outer gopuram opening into a courtyard with a 100-column hall, then an inner gopuram leading to the Vishnu shrine.
The pillars carry reliefs on each side showing avatars of Vishnu, other deities such as Shiva, Surya and Durga, scenes of daily life, people in yoga postures and Vijayanagara emblems. The temple stands at the end of a long colonnaded bazaar street, with Matanga Hill rising behind it; OSM places the complex at the foot of the hill. It is less visited than Virupaksha or Vittala, so the courtyards are often quiet.
