Dudhsagar Waterfalls

Dudhsagar Waterfalls is the most dramatic natural attraction in Goa, a 310 m four-tiered fall inside Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary. Here are the official trek fees, jeep safari rules and seasonal closures.

Dudhsagar – 'sea of milk' – is Goa's most spectacular waterfall. Goa Tourism describes it as a four-tiered fall with a total height of 1,017 ft (about 310 m), one of the most powerful in India, its foaming white water giving it its name. The falls lie in the Western Ghats on the Goa–Karnataka border, within the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, and the South Western Railway line crosses a bridge in front of the upper tiers.

Visitors reach the falls from Collem (Kulem), where the approach begins. Private vehicles and two-wheelers are not allowed into the sanctuary: access is by authorised jeeps holding forest-department permits, or on guided treks run by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) with the Forest Department and Goa Forest Development Corporation.

For the 2025–26 season the jeep circuit reopened after the monsoon in October 2025, with the entry gate open 08:00–15:00, a cap of 240 trips a day and a maximum of seven adults per jeep; visitors must spend at least 15 minutes at the Nature Interpretation Centre at Collem. Life jackets are compulsory for anyone entering the pool at the base, plastics and alcohol are banned, and trips are suspended during orange or red weather alerts.

The jeep and trek routes close every monsoon (roughly June to early October), when the falls are at full force; in that period they can only be seen from passing trains. Book through the official GTDC/forest channels, carry photo ID, and expect a bumpy, dusty ride with stream crossings.
